History: The country of Krymlivik is split down the middle by the deep valley carved by the galloping waters of the ancient Sarne River. It is a physical division that once acted as a border between two warring states until they were united by the incredible metal span known as the Bridge of Triggers.

Some 150 years ago, the countries on either side of the Sarne River Valley, Krymillion to the West and Livik to the East, were embroiled in the bitter dying days of a war that had ground on for over a century. The conflict was ostensibly started over control of trade on the Sarne, although most of the citizens on either side had long since forgotten the exact details. Generations of war had transferred their enmity towards the opposite side from their brains to their bones.

After decades of fighting, both sides had long since run out of ammunition, their guns, cannons, and tanks filling dusty stockyards, waiting for a resupply that would never come. All bridges across the valley expanse had long since been destroyed. There wasn't a way to talk peace even if they had wanted to. It was a bitter stalemate with no end in sight.

Finally, as they peered across the Sarne Valley waiting out another useless guard shift, a Livik soldier had a simple idea. They secretly began stealing decommissioned rifles from the armory, and tying them together. They hung this gunmetal raft out over the deep Sarne Valley, and then they added another, and another. Soon their impossible bridge jutted a few feet out towards Krymillion

Bored soldiers on the opposite side saw what was happening and started building a bridge from their side in the same manner. The symbolic rebellion caught the attention of both governments, both of whom wanted the sections of bridge destroyed. But the efforts had already gained too much momentum with the public, and the building continued.

The untouched stockpiles were emptied, and the weapons of war were hammered into struts, girders, and plates for the bridge. Even the colossal Winter Cannon, a never-fired weapon of final resort developed by the Livik war machine, was stood vertically in the Sarne Valley to act as a central support.

By the time the two sides met, the leaders of both sides were there to sue for peace. As a gesture of solidarity, they both agreed to place their most awful weapons and designs in a vault dubbed the ‘Pax Destra,’ located within the Winter Cannon itself, where neither side could access them. And with that, the country of Krymlivik was born.

Today locals still claim that if certain triggers on the bridge are pulled in a secret sequence, the Pax Destra will open and grant a terrible power to whoever claims it. But for now, the Bridge of Triggers still stands as a powerful symbol of a hard won peace.
