Age: Since the Beginning of Time

Hidden or Lost?: Lost

History: In the time before time, the heavens were ruled by the Music of the Spheres, a naturally occurring musical force which ordered and directed the universe with its vibrations. This wild power kept the stars burning and brought life to the newly formed planets. And with life came a desire for control. Wishing to harness and conduct the songs of the cosmos, a coven of Hyperborean warlocks created the Silent Philharmonic, a grand stone music hall that they miraculously raised into orbit.

Of course it wasn't always silent. Floating outside the planet’s atmosphere, the craggy music hall was once operated by a succession of Holy Conductors, Hyperborian shamans who orchestrated the Music of the Spheres using the powerful Obsidian Baton. Passed down to each new Conductor, whoever held the cool black wand controlled the Philharmonic. Its motions directed the golem-like Homunculus Orchestra to play incredible tunes which could make the sun set and the moon rise, calm storms or make mountains fall.

For ages untold the Holy Conductor shaped the world and orchestrated light and darkness. Eventually the terrible power of the Philharmonic was challenged by a cult calling itself ‘The Quiet.’ Agents of The Quiet were able to break the holy line of conductors and cut off the grand Philharmonic from the world, trapping the Obsidian Baton inside where none could retrieve it.

Having set the cycles of day and night, creation and extinction in motion, the hum of existence continued to play as the eons passed. In time, the existence and power of the Philharmonic was forgotten. The grand organ was silent, and the Music of the Spheres was wild once again.

Recently the music of the universe has begun to take on a new rhythm. The nights are getting longer, the days colder. It seems as though a malevolent new composer has taken the stage, and whispers of the Silent Philharmonic are once again sailing through the heavens. It seems only a matter of time before the Obsidian Baton is once again in control of the movements of the cosmos.
