History: William Zonk was no ordinary dreamer. When he slept, he was transported to a magical dream realm full of whimsy and peril. He had many adventures in The Dreams, becoming a hero of no small renown. Eventually, he even mastered the ability to bring some of the incredible creatures of the dream realm into the waking world. That's when Zonk Mattresses was born.

During his early adventures, Lil Billy Zonk, came to befriend a giant cow-like creature from The Dreams that he named the Imoogination Beast. As Lil Billy grew into the man named William, he began to see the potential of the beast beyond its kindly dream powers. Following his newfound entrepreneurial impulse, Zonk violently wrenched the Imoogination Beast into the physical world, caging it in bars of waking steel. The fantastic creature would be the foundation of Zonk Mattresses, providing bedding that promises the most relaxing sleep in existence.

Each Zonk mattress is made from a single thick plate of dreamflesh sliced fresh from the flank of the Imoogination Beast. The pain caused to the creature during the process is hard to comprehend, but the flesh itself regrows within minutes. The Beast’s regeneration is encouraged by a process whereby the dreams of sleeping children, kept sedated in the nearby Dream Nursery, are fed directly into the Beast’s system. As a being of pure dreamstuff, the Imoogination Beast also produces byproducts such as tears that can inspire creativity and a gaseous sweat that can be condensed into personalized nightmares.

And while the Imoogination Beast’s products were just the first of Zonk’s innovations, his factory has grown to incorporate an entire R&D lab where a team of highly trained slumbernaughts, explorers in the furthest corners of The Dreams, hunt and research strange new thought forms that can be brought into our world and exploited for profit. Unknown to most, the Zonk slumbernauts can also be subcontracted to intercept world leaders, business rivals, and politicians within The Dreams, driving them mad or stealing their secrets.

As successful as Zonk Mattresses has been, William’s expansion and exploitation of The Dreams has not gone unnoticed. A dark presence has been felt recently, probing the edges of dreams, and the shadows of the factory. An ancient and vile force that the waking world and The Dreams alike had thought to be destroyed.
