History: The gods are omnipotent. Some are nigh indestructible. All are arrogant. But every deity has a weakness, every god can be wounded. As soon as the oldest gods knew pain, sickness, and injury, they knew that they would need a healer. Thus was the God Surgeon and its celestial infirmary born, a primal being of bandage and scalpel.

The God Surgeon is the ur-being of which all bone-setters, cutters, healers, and physicians are but a pale shade. It is believed that within its mythic infirmary, all healing is possible, and maybe even some enhancement beyond. Among the wondrous chambers held within the blinding ivory halls are sites like the Clean Room, an eternally warded space that strips away all filth, lies, and pretense, leaving all who enter in a pure state, revealing both weakness and false bravado. There is also the Inside/Out Classroom where demigods, sadists, and mythic healers from across existence come to study every aspect of gross anatomy from the core of a cell to the most esoteric configurations of flesh and bone.

The central chamber of the elysian infirmary is the God Surgeon’s Theater, a large, tiered viewing chamber that also serves as the seat of the God Surgeon’s power. It is in this operating space that the multi-armed god-creature dons its lab coat and performs feats of surgery and healing so incredible that only the gods themselves can look upon these acts and not be blinded.

Even Death itself seems in awe of the God Surgeon’s work, holding a chamber all its own within the infirmary, often dealing with the celestial doctor to bring patients back from the beyond.

Of course such power cannot be wholly undefended. To protect the infirmary, the God Surgeon has summoned an army of terrible spirits known as the Grey Nurses. These animated golems of surgical equipment, take form such as clattering swarms of syringes and clouds of scalpels. They are tireless servitors that roam the halls of the infirmary performing small tasks and watching for intruders.

If one can gain access to the infirmary, which exists on its own dimensional plane, they can request an audience with the God Surgeon and try to receive some of its miraculous healing. Although the services of the doctor to the gods do not come cheap, and no mortal can survive payment in full.
