Hidden or Lost?: Lost

History: There is a guard tower at the edge of the universe but it is unmanned. The Neptunorion is an ancient celestial orb-fortress that was once tasked with guarding the galaxy from the creeping, cosmic horrors and would-be conquerors out among the stars. Yet for centuries, it has sat empty, the guards long since having abandoned their posts, and those powers from the darkest corners of the cosmos are finally starting to realize that while the lights are on, no one is home.

The large satellite base Neptunorion was built by the extinct race of galactic protectors known as the Unrathin. Centuries ago, the Unrathin spread out across the stars, establishing a vast network of watchtowers from which they could act as a first line of defense for developing worlds that didn't yet know they were part of a hostile, predatory universe. The watchtowers were equipped with staggeringly powerful weapons capable of repelling entire armadas or wounding limitless outer beings. Each one was also equipped with an Un-Key, powerful devices that could be deployed in the case of emergency that could open a rift to the devouring Unspace abyss. As powerful as they were, use of an Un-Key would destroy all matter in a galaxy’s radius, so they were only permitted in the prevention of doomsday scenarios. Ever paranoid, the Unrathin also built a trick into the Un-Keys such that if five of the keys were joined, they could create an Eschaton Trigger device capable of flipping the entirety of existence into Unspace.

The Unrathin sentinels were able to protect the galaxy for a time, but eventually their war with an anarchy worshiping sect known as The Occlusion, took their homeworld, and finally their spirit. The slow attrition had worn down the Unrathin defenses, and their mission to protect the galaxies was finally abandoned. In the end, all their defensive orb fortresses throughout the cosmos had been destroyed, leaving only Neptunorion.

For centuries The Occlusion have been searching for the Neptunorion and its powerful Un-Key, but most have given up hope of ever finding the lost station. Only now, hundreds of years after the war are whispers of the Neptunorion and its terrible weapons starting to once again travel the stars.
