History: It began as a great experiment. A visionary evolutionist’s mad attempt to prove that all beasts are just early in their journey to a civilized destiny. Using strange rituals and dangerous natural toxins, Dr. Emeritus Elvin-Moth elevated all manner of creature from horses and sparrows to toothed worms and shadow stalkers to a state of ‘civility.’ His procedures, conducted in the secrecy of the deep Kathay Jungles, created a cacophonous society of sapient creatures, producing arts, culture, laws, and government all their own.

Evolving their thinking from Elvin-Moth’s teachings, the Newkind, as they called themselves, came to hold manners and politeness above all else. Because of this, they created a hidden border around their land to keep the uncouth influence of old humanity from infecting their mannered eden. They named their walled country the Gentleman’s Reserve. Within the borders of the reserve, boorish behavior or failure to observe manners and customs was met with swift and deadly consequences. The Gentleman’s Justice was carried out by the Wild Ushers, an elite group of Newkind trained to stick to the shadows and uphold the peace.

Not even their creator was shown mercy under the laws of the reserve, and Elvin-Moth with his incurable human taint, was executed in the public clearing that now bears his monument.

In the decades since Dr. Elvin-Moth’s death, the Newkind’s distaste for outside humanity only grew. Disinterested in going to war with the crude nations of the world, the animal hybrids decided to find a world all their own. They devoted the focus of their society on studying the secrets of astral magic and building a massive ark portal that will one day allow them to migrate to a new, more civilized world of their choosing. Unfortunately, to power this unprecedented portal they will have to exhaust the current planet’s core. But such is the price of progress.

Not all of the Newkind believe in this self-destructive agenda and an underground calling themselves ‘The Rabble’ has emerged. They seek Dr. Elvin-Moth’s lost reversion serum, a rumored failsafe capable of destroying the Newkind entirely. But whichever side wins, the Gentleman’s Reserve will soon decide the fate of the entire crass planet.
