Hidden or Lost?: Hidden

History: There are six keys to the Umbercage, and the first is simply to learn of its existence. So important is the ancient lock that even a remembrance of its existence threatens to unleash the terrible being held within.

When the terrible outer pyramid-god SOM began approaching the planet, it became clear that the augers were true, and the end of all seasons had arrived. While almost all accepted this ending of days by rioting and engaging in endless debauchery, a small conclave of generals, warlocks, and farseers decided to fight back, no matter the cost. Their plan to fight a god was to create a god.

The Conclave chose the warlock Trevain as a vessel, and imbued him with every known ward, charm, and mechanical enhancement they could muster, creating a superbeing capable of bending reality and time with ease. To complete their hand-made deity, they called out to the Silver Void and coaxed forward one of the strange godforms from that celestial plane, forcing it to bond with their enhanced warlock. And the Trifold Trevain was born.

The Conclave set their raging, three-faced new frankengod against SOM, insane with newfound power. But their work was far from done. As the two powers clashed overhead, The Conclave got to work building the final component of their plan, the Umbercage. It was created to be the ultimate prison for the ultimate weapon, a final betrayal for a monster that was created by the same hands that imprisoned it.

After a battle that nearly shredded all of reality, the Trifold Trevain emerged victorious but weakened, and the trap was sprung. From the moment that they successfully created their own god, The Conclave knew that if their champion was victorious it would need to be dealt with itself. The walls of the cage rose around Trevain, locking the manufactured god in a moment of terror and rage.

It was secured by five metaphysick locks of Violence, Peace, Soil, Breath, and Vision, respectively. Each of the five locks were surrounded by deadly traps, their keys given to chosen guardians. Finally the sixth and final lock, that of Memory, was closed causing all record and memory of Trevain and the arrival of SOM to be erased from the world.

For 1,000 years the Umbercage has remained hidden, locked, and perfectly forgotten. But the lock of Memory has begun to crumble, and small pieces of information about the lost cage have begun to emerge, causing more and more curious explorers to begin looking for the buried god-cage. Should the Umbercage be revealed and the Trifold Trevain unleashed, it could spell the destruction of the universe, making the coming of SOM seem tame in comparison.
