Hidden or Lost?: Lost

History: Ever since the godlike creatures known as the Aj’Zatha faded onto our plane of existence, destroying civilizations across the world with plagues of madness, fear, and violence, there have been whispers of the Basilica Enzethi. A lost chapel that holds the final fragment of a forgotten Aj’Zatha, a being so cruel and evil that even the other worldwyrms fear it. A being that could be the world’s last hope for survival.

The colossal, writhing abominations that the world came to know as the Aj’Zatha slowly faded into corporeal existence in locations across the world without warning or mercy. To look upon them was madness or death for most. For some it was a cause for worship, and for an unlucky few it meant seeing the world careen into ruin with clear eyes. Even of the few strong enough to survive the psychic apocalypse the outer beings wrought, most were killed by the insane Bishops of the Aj’Zatha or one of the random roving murderhordes.

No one could be sure what caused the Aj’Zatha to appear across the planet, but knowledge of their history began to emerge, and with it a grim ray of hope. The Aj’Zatha, huge as mountains and just as inscrutable, were old gods. Beings from beyond space and time who had been here before. Details about them and what drove them away previously were scarce and conflicting, but one common rumor was that of the Basilica Enzethi, said to be a prison for one of their kind too violent and nihilistic to be free. The original Aj’Zatha were said to have banded together to destroy the Enzethi, and they thought they had succeeded. However a fragment of the Barren God was taken by the forgotten insect-kind and hidden deep within the land.

Even as the Aj’Zatha were banished from this realm of existence, the Enzethi fragment survived, too weak to manifest but too resentful to die. Its primal hatred drew followers and protectors to its prison who built for it a grand subterranean basilica, where it has waited down the millennia.

Now the Aj’Zatha have returned and once again rule the world, and some believe that the Enzethi holds the key to defeating the invading worldwyrms. The hope is that the Barren God can be awakened and set against its fellow Aj’Zatha. The only hope is that the Basilica Enzethi will also hold the secret to banishing the terrible power they unleashed.
