History: Long since faded to a half-remembered footnote, the War of the Archduke, fought between the countries of Fynn and Corbell, was once considered one of the most destructive conflicts to ever have stained history books. Hundreds years later the Fynnish and Corbellon civilizations are long dead, but the weapon that turned the tide in their battle, the war juggernaut known as the Fist of Orobas, survives.

Like the child of a tank and a siege tower but on the scale of a small mountain, the Fist of Orobas was meant to be the decisive weapon that would finally seal a Fynnish victory in the war. Built using the most advanced military technology of the day, and bolstered by halfling blessings, the Fist was a mobile fortress that advanced on a million mechanical legs. The face of the Fist was dominated by a massive sculpture of its namesake, the grave demon Orobas, a blasphemous power which the Fynnish worshiped above all else. The towering visage also served as a cannon that could spew toxic ‘viridian fire,’ a magical napalm that left diseased pools of flame where it landed.

Behind the impenetrable bulwark at the front of the Fist, were a host of chambers that could support the giant’s fight wherever it went. Behind one eye was a great war room where generals and battleseers could analyze tactics or survey the battlefield ahead. Further within was a weapons bank holding a vast variety of arms ranging from ornate enchanted swords to portable rock tossers capable of lobbing exploding projectiles at the enemy. There was even a dedicated warlock’s clave, where warmages and mancing soldiers could weave deadly tricks of reality in the dark silence of their sanctuary.

So massive and seemingly unstoppable was the Fist of Orobas that its builders overlooked the dangers presented by small groups of saboteurs. The Corbellon forces took advantage of this weakness, sending a trio of their bravest soldiers on a one-way mission to disable the behemoth before it could run right through their defenses. The strike force was successful, igniting an explosion within the juggernaut that left it forever tilted within the deep canyon it was moving through. But the cost of victory was high, as the Corbellan explosion flooded the Fist with the deadly viridian fire, taking the lives of everyone on board.

After the scuttling of the Fist of Orobas, the War of the Archduke was settled, and the juggernaut was left to rot. Terminally awash in viridian fire, the entire structure had become an inaccessible deathtrap, and remained so for hundreds of years. Even as the fire’s toxic fumes finally diminish, the Fist sits, quiet and forever canted, its deadly secrets and valuable treasures intact.
