Hidden or Lost?: Abandoned

History: The criminal undertaker and necromancer known as The Graver was the thorn in the side of The Wonder Five for decades prior to his first death. His undead-themed capers took a number of forms, from an almost whimsical plot to animate a graveyard so that the zombies could empty their leftover bank accounts, to a deadly plan to kill everyone in New York City by infusing the water supply with his poisonous corpse dust. But throughout his career, the grave-robbing genius operated out of the same headquarters: a giant, disappearing skull he dubbed the ‘Skeleton Factory.’
The Graver created his Skeleton Factory in the Ghost Plane, a dimension he had discovered during his experiments in necroscience. The giant skull, which is able to travel to the Ghost Plane and re-materialize anywhere in the land of the living, was where Graver was able to perfect the Six Procedures of Death, his novel methods of bringing the dead back to life under his control.
His first and favorite of the reanimating arts was always creating living skeletons. Using the machines he created within the factory, Graver can strip the flesh from a victim’s bones but leave them as walking and talking skeletons in his thrall. Over the years, he transformed a number of heroes, including Grey Master, Fairlord, and Underwoman into ossified minions before they were changed back. On one occasion he even used this process to help the heroes, turning them into skeletons to help them infiltrate the Court of Phantoms.
However, even dead things must die, and The Graver’s criminal career ceased when he was killed and willingly traveled forever into the Ghost Plane. This left the Skeleton Factory abandoned and drifting through the deadlands of the Ghost Plane, occasionally materializing wherever death seems to permeate the air.
Graver left behind his tomes of blasphemous research, his miraculous machines, and even a vault holding some of his greatest scores for any who could infiltrate his shifting lair. But so far none have succeeded. When it materializes, some see the Skeleton Factory is an omen of crime and death, but some still search for it, looking to plunder its secrets.
